This PowerPoint covers all types of geometric intersections using basic figures and today's most popular logos. The lesson can be used as guided notes, whole class discussion, assessment, or a math center activity. The students study pictures and determine the number of intersection points. This is an 8th grade SPI in TN, but it is very effective in lower grades when teaching intersection. The pictures also lend themselves to other vocabulary like parallel, perpendicular, adjacent, point, line, etc.!!! I have also added six multiple-choice standardized test questions in order to show the students how the TCAP questions will look! These questions also cover standard geometric shapes (ellipse, rhombus, triangle, hexagon, octagon...).
For homework, I ask the kids to bring in different logos and advertisements with all the intersection points indicated and any standard geometric shapes identified.
