This 1 page Word doc contains practice questions that explore exponents and powers, as well as their 4 forms: exponential form, word form, factored form, standard form.
This handout is a great tool to use as an in-class activity, as part of homework, and/or as extra practice. It can also be used as a "ticket in" / "ticket out" assessment.
There are 4 sections in the handout, which are organized as follows:
- Warm-Up: students will complete a table / chart with their choice of 7 powers and express them in all 4 forms: exponential form, word form, factored form, standard form; students will also follow certain criteria when selecting their powers, such as including whole numbers and decimals as bases, using powers to 1 and 0; instructions also encourage students to create powers that aren't too simple / easy or too difficult.
- Section A: expressing powers in exponential form (8 questions)
- Section B: expressing powers in standard form (7 questions)
- Section C: comparing powers using inequality signs (<, =, >) (4 questions)
Since it is in Word doc format, you can easily add, remove, and/or modify any aspect of this worksheet. This product can also be modified to suit the various needs (e.g. IEP modifications, accommodations, etc.) of your students.
