This is a PowerPoint I used to introduce Destiny Quest to new students at the beginning of the school year and help get them set up to use Destiny Quest. Recommended for grades 5-9. Includes screen shots and step-by-step directions.
Note--Librarians must set up Destiny Quest in Back Office--Access Levels before you can teach this lesson. You also need to ensure all the students in the class have Destiny accounts AND Destiny logins unless you plan to allow the students to create their own.
To set up logins, you have to go into each student's individual patron record, click Edit Patron, and look on the right side for Username and Password. Choose logins that the students can easily remember, such as a school ID number or firstname.lastname. The password can be something like "library" since you can allow students to modify the password in the Access Levels (it's a checkbox).
Yes, the set up is time-consuming, but once you do it, it lasts as long as the student has a Destiny account at your school. Once you do the initial set-up, you only have to do it again for new and incoming students.
