This product is designed to help you teach prepositional phrases and their function in a text.
The PowerPoint defines what a preposition and prepositional phrase are and explains their function in a sentence. It teaches how to recognize and form a prepositional phrase. Also included are interactive slides to practice the various skills introduced. The slideshow also provides students with practice in writing sentences using prepositional phrases. In addition, teaching tips are included as Comments for most of the slides.
There are two PPT versions. One is illustrated with Super Hero clipart by Revidevi and is a read-only in order to protect the art. The other is savable. However, both contain the same grammar content and interactive animation.
Also included are practice activities, a board game, and two assessments. The practice activities offer a variety of learning modes. Students act out prepositional phrases in a charade type game. They also illustrate prepositional phrases in an art activity and write captions containing prepositional phrases for a variety of photos. The Prepositional Phrase Race to the Finish provides practice in identifying prepositions, objects of prepositions, and the noun/verb that the prepositional phrase modifies. Finally, there are two assessments. One requires students to locate prepositional phrases in an expository paragraph. The other asks students to write sentences using prepositional phrases, to identify prepositions and objects of prepositions, and to locate the words being described.
