Make these two adorable puppets with your class then have students pair up and act out the accomplishments of both Abe Lincoln and George Washington. I've included a list of accomplishments of both presidents. Students could be tasked with taking these facts and making short plays out of them. Perhaps George and Abe could have a discussion about who is more famous and why.
Puppets are simple to build out of manilla folder paper and construction paper. The mouth mechanism makes these puppets more interesting than other paper bag puppets.
I've included step by step instructions and a pattern for each puppet.
Having students present their puppets hits a few Common Core standards for public speaking - I've attached the standards on the last page of the instructions.
