Description

- Great for online learning and distance learning!

Use these 40 task cards with your students to help them practice solving real-word PROBABILITY word problems.

What is Included:

This resource includes 40 task cards, a student answer sheet, and an answer key. Your students will love working with these task cards.

How to Use:

I place one task card on each of my students desks and give them 2-3 minutes to complete the problem and record their answer on their answer sheet. Once time is up I have my students "scoot" to the next desk to solve the new problem. The students LOVE doing this activity because it gets them moving. I highly recommend printing these task cards and answer key on card stock. Laminate them if possible so that they can be used for years. These task cards are perfect for reinforcing concepts through individual student practice, pair-share, early finishers, end of year review and assessment prep.

Topics covered:

✔ probability of simple events

✔ theoretical and experimental probability

✔ probability of compound events

✔ simulations

✔ Fundamental Counting Principal

✔ permutations

✔ independent and dependent events

* This resource works well with my Digital Simple Probability GOOGLE Quiz for remote / distance learning!

Common Core Aligned:

* 7.SP.5- Understand that the probability of a chance event is a number between 0 and 1 that expresses the likelihood of the event occurring. Larger numbers indicate greater likelihood.

* 7.SP.6 - Approximate the probability of a chance event by collecting data on the chance process that produces it and observing its long-run relative frequency, and predict the approximate relative frequency given the probability.

* 7.SP.7 - Develop a probability model and use it to find probabilities of events. Compare probabilities from a model to observed frequencies;

* 7.SP.8 - Find probabilities of compound events using organized lists, tables, tree diagrams, and simulation.

Feedback on this Resource:

♥ The cards offered different levels of rigor. Students were challenged to think through several of these task cards.

♥ I really liked this and the students were able to work through the problems on their own.

♥ Love this! It is hard to find great Probability reviews so this was fantastic!

♥ I just used these last week, and my class really enjoyed it! Thanks for the great resource!

Understand that the probability of a chance event is a number between 0 and 1 that expresses the likelihood of the event occurring. Larger numbers indicate greater likelihood. A probability near 0 indicates an unlikely event, a probability around 1/2 indicates an event that is neither unlikely nor likely, and a probability near 1 indicates a likely event.
Approximate the probability of a chance event by collecting data on the chance process that produces it and observing its long-run relative frequency, and predict the approximate relative frequency given the probability. For example, when rolling a number cube 600 times, predict that a 3 or 6 would be rolled roughly 200 times, but probably not exactly 200 times.
Develop a probability model and use it to find probabilities of events. Compare probabilities from a model to observed frequencies; if the agreement is not good, explain possible sources of the discrepancy.
Develop a uniform probability model by assigning equal probability to all outcomes, and use the model to determine probabilities of events. For example, if a student is selected at random from a class, find the probability that Jane will be selected and the probability that a girl will be selected.
Develop a probability model (which may not be uniform) by observing frequencies in data generated from a chance process. For example, find the approximate probability that a spinning penny will land heads up or that a tossed paper cup will land open-end down. Do the outcomes for the spinning penny appear to be equally likely based on the observed frequencies?
