Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997) became a leading figure in the 60's "POP ART" movement producing art based on comic book images. "POP ART" challenged the way we saw fine art by using images and mundane objects from popular culture. (Example Andy Warhol's "Campbell Soup Cans")
Your goal is to create a 9" X 12" Acrylic painting in the style of famous Pop Artist "Roy Lichtenstein" using the grid transfer method. The image must show "Extreme Emotion".Comic book close ups make excellent subjects! Example, "Crying Girls", "Hulk Angry", "Anguish Of Super Hero's", "Frightened Faces...Horror Comics", Etc.
This project will require approx. 9 one hour class periods.
-9" x 12" Canvas Board (from Dollar store.)
-3 paint brushes, (Shown actual size)
1 Flat med. size
1 Flat large size
1 Round and Pointed
-Acrylic Paint set & A pallete
-Pencil & a Black Sharpie
-Color Comic Book OR Google color image of a character showing
