This product is designed to help you teach Progressive Verb Tenses (past progressive, present progressive, future progressive) and their function in sentences. It is aligned with 4th grade common core standards but can be used with upper grade levels as review.
The PowerPoint introduces each progressive verb tense with a sample sentence and an explanation of its use in the sentence. Students are required to make note cards for each progressive verb tense to use as references for additional activities. The slideshow also includes engaging activities. In addition, teaching tips are included as Comments for most of the slides.
There are two PowerPoints. One is illustrated with Super Hero clipart by Revidevi and is a read-only to protect the art. The other is savable. However, both contain the same grammar content and interactive animation.
The Sorting activity provides practice as students sort verb phrases into the progressive verb tense categories. Three additional activities (Name That Tense, Find the Location, Make a Match) are designed for cooperative learning and more practice. A two-part assessment requires students to identify the progressive verb tense in specific sentences and to write sentences using the the progressive tenses.
