Product Description
All of us are familiar with Starbucks and other coffee shops. People go to coffee shops to visit with friends and grab a cup of their favorite coffee drink. Now is your chance to open your very own coffee shop. You’ll have an opportunity to create your own menu and more.

There are some things you need to do so your shop will be a success. It will require you do do some research as you do your planning. These activities can be adapted for your class.

This PBL unit incorporate 21st Century skills with challenging, engaging, and creative activities. There are lots of opportunities for differentiation, cooperative learning, and technology integration.

In this unit:
Learn about the history of coffee and different shops
Photos of a visit to a coffee shop
Take a survey to learn about favorite coffee flavors. Graph results
Create questions for business survey. Record results
Questions about starting a coffee shop business
Choose a name, logo and slogan for your coffee shop.
Design a store front
Create your own business plan (company overview)
Interview an owner or manager of a coffee shop
Create a new design for a mug
Create an idea for hot chocolate mix-ins
Design an flyer to advertise your shop
Design business cards
Create coupons for your coffee shop
Menu and word problems. (Teachers, for more advanced students you can have them to calculate tax and tip.)
Plan a menu for your coffee shop– Students can even create their own design after using this template as a rough draft.
Inventory (choice of using a spreadsheet)
Students write descriptive sentences about products.
Plan social media for your coffee shop
Blueberry muffin recipe
Make a scale drawing of your coffee shop. Optional: Visit a coffee shop and draw the layout of the coffee shop.
