PUNCH AND EARN CARDS (2 pages each, one with added color)
Use these 20 -punch cards to reward students.Punch cards or X out each punch to show success. You can give smaller rewards for a certain amount of punches. Then, you can reward students for a filled punch card.
Courtesy Commitment Card- "Make Friends Not Enemies"- students earn punches for showing courteous behavior.
Teach students about intrinsic and extrinsic rewards, so that they understand that just because you see them do something courteous does not always mean they will receive a punch. Sometimes the reward is intrinsic-feeling good inside, a pat on back to say "Good Job, or a "Thank You!" Tell students you will be randomly punching cards at your discretion. When they receive a certain amount of punches, or fill their card, they will receive an extrinsic reward (something more tangible).
Random Acts of Smartness- "A LightBulb Moment" - Encourage using higher order thinking and "smartness" by giving student a punch when they answer a challenging question, or go above and beyond in their thinking. I often call these "Smartie" Questions and students get a punch. After each of 5 punches, they get a "Smartie" candy, and after 20 punches a prize.
Treasure Chest Card- "Golden Behavior" Students get a punch for good behavior according to your standards. Award students with a treasure chest prize after they have filled their cards.
