This is a collection of 5 self-checking decoder worksheets. One the first students find unit prices, compare them to find the best buy, and compute savings. There are nine exercises, and students use the answers to place letters into spaces to reveal a secret message. Students get immediate feedback and stay motivated. Teachers know students got all items correct at a glance. The next two pages are two one-page decoder worksheets on which students compare prices and savings in various real-world contexts. For example, students decide whether it would be more cost effective to buy eight items or one dozen, and they examine savings when one subscribes instead of buying individual publications at the store. Answers correspond with code items, so students get immediate feedback. Teachers find less overhead when grading, accordingly. The last two worksheets are on solving proportions. One has students solve proportions equations, and the other has students set up and solve proportions equations to solve word problems. Students who used these worksheets reported that they helped to practice the concepts and that they were enjoyable to complete.
