This was originally designed for Spanish 4 Honors students during their study of the geography of Spain. The first page is an introduction to the debate and how students will approach it. This document also leaves space for the teacher to assign students to sides of the debate, or students can sign themselves up. The next two pages include questions that students will address during the debates. There is a set of questions for País Vasco and another set for Cataluña. The last page includes questions for a reflection composition after the debate. I generally set up my debate as a socratic seminar and have the "outside circle" that isn't verbally debating participate in a closed chat room that I set up. Students can use one class period to research their side of the debate and another class period to debate and reflect in class or for homework with the composition.
