PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Children love to play these artic games where they pretend that they are going on vacation and need to pack all their Ss and/or s-blends words using a file folder suitcase. Mix and match blends or target specific S/S-blends that your student might find more challenging. This activity works great as a one on one activity or in small groups. The children I work with love it and I hope yours will as well.

This game includes:
★ 2 Suitcases (one for Ss and one for s-Blends)
★ 24 S initial words
★ 24 S Medial words
★ 24 S Final words
★ 12 Sp words
★ 12 Sw words
★ 12 Sk words
★ 12 St words
★ 11 Sm words
★ 12 Sn words
★ 12 Sl words
★ 12 sk/ks final words
★ 12 sp/ps final words
★ 12 st/ts final words
★ 12 scr words
★ 12 spr words
★ 12 str words
★ 10 spl words

TO MAKE: Print off the suitcase and grid on regular paper. Cut out the suitcase and glue it to the outside of the file folder. Glue the grid on the inside of the file folder. Laminate the folder for durability. Next add velcro on the inside of the folder. Print off the artic cards on cardstock, cut them out and laminate them. Put velcro on the back of the card. Option: You can use glue dots to attach the cards to the file folder instead of velcro.

TO PLAY: The children pretend that they are going on vacation. The file folder is their suitcase. To start, the child traces the letters on the front of the suitcase and practice the sound in isolation. Then scatter the cards around the room and the children either have to pack their suitcase or show all the souvenirs that they bought.

The Child names the picture at whatever level they are working on. For sound loaded sentences, the children says “I went on vacation and I saw (names the card).” Then on the next turn says, “I went on vacation and I saw (the first card), (the new card).” This keeps going until the child says all of the cards in one very long sentence. I adapt the sentence slightly to make more sense.

Happy playing!
