Paired reading is a research-based fluency strategy used with readers who lack fluency. In this strategy, students read aloud to each other. When using partners, more fluent readers can be paired with less fluent readers, or children who read at the same level can be paired to reread a story they have already read.
Students become excited about reading with readers’ theater. Help your students develop fluency by allowing multiple readings of the script. Encourage them to use expressiveness, intonation, and inflection when rehearsing the text.
This packet contains 5 original readers’ theater scripts by My Reading Resources. The reading level is appropriate for grades K-2.
These are perfect for your independent literacy centers, buddy reading, language arts activities, fluency practice, read to someone during Daily 5, to fill out a sub packet, and much more! Each script is 3-5 pages long.

This is causing a nice competition in class. I only let the most focused readers "go to the theater" and perform these plays so the fight to be the most fluent and focused is on!
