This board game is designed to help students learn and practice Spanish compound words using a brace map “thinking map”. Print out the brace maps and words on card stock and laminate for durability. Cut out the words used to build compound words. Face the brace map to reflect the smiling face on the lower left hand corner. Students place the “compound word” on the left side of the brace map. Students place each individual word used to build the compound word on the right side of the brace map.
The brace maps are designed to show two things: the two words coming together to build one word and to helps students who need another level of differentiation. The compound word is underlined in blue and red. Find the first part of the word and place it on the top blue line of the brace map. Find the second part of the word and place it on the bottom line of the brace map.
