This is a three-page handout/resource containing more than 200 of the most frequently used words in Spanish, arranged by type, with English translation, AND with their ranking in frequency.
This is the full version of my one-page resource "High-frequency words in Spanish arranged by type/theme," which does not include translations or frequency ranking and includes fewer words.
Rankings are given based on how frequently the word is used in Spanish corpus sources based on the CREA (Corpus de Referencia del Español Actual) and Mark Davies' frequency rankings.
Categories are: Personas, Lugares, Para describir, Cosas, two sections of Chispitas (one related to verbs), five sections of verbs (including one for haber), Tiempo and Para conectar.
For example, under Tiempo you can find out that día means day and it is the 90th most frequently used word in Spanish according to CREA.
I used two sources because CREA doesn't discriminate among variations of the same word (e.g. un and una are separate, as are este and esta) but Davies does; this also means that CREA gives rankings for conjugated verbs while Davies in his verb ranking does not.
This resource is intended to be used as a handout for students or as a source for teachers to use to make a high frequency word wall.
