PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This lesson was inspired by Island of the Blue Dolphins and the narrator’s yucca skirt. Students will read several sources about primitive textile construction from different parts of the world. Then, given supplies native to their own region, they will hypothesize the best material and treatment to create a given textile (rope or yarn, woven mat, pounded/ felted fabric). The great thing about this lesson is the minimal cost to the instructor.
