I was honored to meet Deanna Jump who totally inspired me and this unit. She does a paleontology unit in kindergarten and it got me thinking about upper elementary kiddos. With our olders the possibilities are endless!! I used that inspiration to create this lesson. In it you will find:
~What a paleontologist is including information about botonists, biologists, archeologists, and geologists;
~A step by step lesson on how to teach this unit;
~Supplies needed for a paleontology dig;
~Pictures to help coordinate your dig;
~Vocabulary that helps teach the world of paleontology;
~A log book and instructions;
~A small original Reader's Theater play;
~A great little song;
~A supply list including a moon sand recipe and a shopping list.
I hope you have as much fun on your dig as we did!! We really did get the dirt on bones!
