Here is a FREE download I made for some of my students to go along with the Picture-Perfect Science Lessons - Expanded 2nd Edition: Using Children's Books to Guide Inquiry, 3-6 by Karen Ansberry and Emily Morgan Chemical Change Café lesson while reading Pancakes, Pancakes! by Eric Carle with your students.
Some of my students were having a very difficult time writing everything down and creating a T-chart separate the events into physical and chemical changes, but I wanted them to have something to do where it actually required them to do something at each step as they went back through the book. This 3 page worksheet was the result. Now they have to circle the picture that goes along with the step and write physical or chemical on the line beside the step. (If you really want to differentiate you could have them write P or C instead of physical or chemical on the lines. You could also have them color the correct picture to match the words of the step.
Designed with students' needs in mind, each step is inside its own box with three pictures for the students to choose from, with the words to the step underneath the pictures, and a darkened line next to each step for them to write physical or chemical. Physical and Chemical are written at the bottom of each page to help them see the spelling of the words, so they do not need to keep flipping back to the first page with the directions on it.
This worksheet is also good for ESL/ELL students!
