Do you enjoy using exit slips to informally monitor your students' understanding, but hate using endless amounts of paper? I know I did! One day, after spending another hour at the school copier, I had an a-ha moment! What if I went paperless? Instead of using paper slips, students use magnetic boards to respond to our daily exit question. I simply write the exit question on the whiteboard and students write down their answer on the magnetic boards. As the students line up, they show me their answer. Using the snaphot sheets, I simply track each students understanding of each skill with a check or a minus. This allows me to monitor student understanding while cutting back on paper! Genius!
