A beginning string art pattern, using the parabola shape to make a circle boarder around a 4 pointed star. This lesson is great with math or art!
Comes with instructions and photos, as well as the pattern I use with my art kids. For more advanced students, they can create their own patterns, or do all the measuring out themselves instead of using the pre-measured pattern.
Materials - cotton thread
large, relatively blunt, needles
Construction paper or some equivalent. (Cardstock is too heavy. Check the weight of your paper before proceeding to make sure it isn't too difficult to make the holes.)
Depending on your classroom time period, etc. I recommend 2-3 days on the project. One day for instruction and safety, the rest for the actual completion.
