While reading an article in class, I noticed that many of my students struggled writing a summary about an article that included only the main ideas.
To remedy the situation, I developed this resource. It includes:
1. A directions page that lists Paragraphs by number. For each paragraph, there are lines on which the student is directed to write the main idea for that paragraph
2. A summary page: After writing the main idea for each paragraph, the student combines the main ideas into a formal written summary
There are two versions of the document:
One version is for articles that are up to 10 paragraphs and has a slightly shorter section for the summary. The second version has room for up to 24 paragraphs with more room for a summary.
