This bundled resource uses paragraph puzzles to model writing paragraphs. Starting with four sentences in January, children are introduced to the basic structure of introduction, body (details), and conclusion for writing. In February and March, four sentences are still used, and transitional words are introduced. Finally, in April and May, the paragraphs are expanded into 5 sentences using introduction, three details in the body, and a conclusion. Each packet includes a sample lesson plan for teaching the writing lesson.
After using a paragraph puzzle page, the next day the children write their own paragraph on the same topic. These lessons stress using a graphic organizer as prewriting tool to organize thoughts before writing, as well as using transitional words and phrases in our writing.
In each unit in this bundle, you will get the following:
*A direction page, including common core correlations.
*Detailed lesson plans for the day you use the paragraph puzzle and a different detailed lesson plan for the independent writing day.
*16 pages of paragraph puzzles to use throughout the months of January - May
