Many children can brainstorm details or ideas about a topic but struggle putting these into independent sentences without using “then” or “and” as a sentence starter. As well, topic sentences and concluding sentences always seem to produce the same fragmented sentence which is more like a title than a topic sentence for their paragraph.
Using this student friendly resource will give students a list of possible sentence starters for each section of a paragraph, whether it is the topic sentence, concluding sentence, or even the first detail, a middle detail, and the last detail. Easy and organized for student use!
