This "real text" Grammar Quiz has students read an expository paragraph broken into ten sections and locate within the underlined areas where a grammatical error occurs. Each multiple-choice question offers three areas where the error may be located. Students circle the corresponding letter (A-C) or respond with "No Error" if they believe no error is present.
As an extension to this quiz, I have found it extremely helpful for students to then go over, not only where the error is located and what specifically is incorrect about it, but also to then fix the error so that the sentence becomes grammatically correct.
Included in the five-page download:
2 pages Grammar Quiz (10 multiple-choice questions)
2 pages Answer Key (with detailed error identified and explained and corrected)
1 page Response Form (useful, but not essential for classroom use)
This level of grammar editing -- where students are not simply working on one or two specific grammar mistakes -- has worked very well with my Grade 10, 11, and 12 students.
