What is included?
Included in the document is a PDF as well as an editable Power Point version for you to customize it to meet the needs of your students.
You will find 16 Narrative, 16 Opinion, and 16 Informative prompts for a total of 48 prompts to get you through the year.
Each prompt will have a word bank as well as criteria section. You can gear this to your classroom and even differentiate based on students through the editable version. Not only will you receive the prompts, but you will have 8 sample prompts I have already completed for students who need a model.
Also, in the document are pages for sentence starters, red flag and transition words, adjectives, and a student/peer checklist.
How can you use this?
Since the pages are 1/2 sheets, I find it best used on a composition notebook. My students will paste or staple the prompt to one side of their notebook and they can complete their rough and final draft pages after it. When they are complete they turn it in and I place my district rubric on top of the final draft once graded.
How long does each prompt take?
Each prompt takes about a week to complete if they are following the stages of the writing process including: brainstorm, rough draft, revise, edit, publish
