This original outline is designed to help students understand how to put together a strong paragraph, complete with details and cited information from the text. It offers color coding options to help the students see the different parts of the paragraph. A suggested grading rubric is also provided to make grading quick and easy. Originally created to help Florida middle and high school students prepare for the 9th and 10th grade FSA ELA test, this outline can easily be adapted for any type of writing including at the elementary (5th-6th grade) levels.

Gather relevant information from multiple print and digital sources, assess the credibility and accuracy of each source, and integrate the information while avoiding plagiarism.
Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content.
Write arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts, using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence.
