Paragraph of the Week: Argumentative
1 Week included. 5 total assignments.
Just like good readers practice reading, good writers need to practice writing!
Give your students practice writing with a paragraph a week. This unit can be used as bell ringers, homework, or as a mini-lesson.
The lesson includes a mentor text, student self assessments, and a weekly grammar focus.
Topics covered: compound sentences, conjunctions, claim, counterclaim, evidence, reasons, annotation, editing, revise, indentation, capitalization, commas, and conclusion sentences.
Monday: Students will read and annotate a mentor text.
Tuesday: Students will annotate the weekly prompt and use a graphic organizer to brainstorm ideas.
Wednesday: Students will write a paragraph.
Thursday: Students will use a writing checklist to analyze and annotate their own writing. Students will edit and revise their paragraph as needed.
Friday: Students will write their final draft.
