In this Level Up! activity, students work through problems that get progressively more challenging, but all deal with parallel lines cut by a transversal and applying special angle pair properties. The activity progression:
>Finding missing angle measures and solving linear equations
>Finding missing angle measures with multiple lines and substituting in values
>Solving systems of linear equations
>Solving a quadratic equation
>Solving two word problems (must draw a picture first)
I have included three methods of delivery for this method. The first method is a PowerPoint presentation. I use this when I want to discuss each problem as a whole class and have students work on whiteboards. The second method takes a bit more prep work with cutting and sorting the small task cards, but is very engaging. Students work at their own pace and get each card checked before moving on to the next "level". The third method of delivery is a worksheet format, in which I simply print out the slides in order on a worksheet and students work through the problems.
If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you and enjoy!
