This activity consists of 12 different problem cards in which a pair of parallel lines are cut by a transversal. The teacher posts the 12 problem cards around the classroom. Students begin their scavenger hunt at one card, solve for the given variable, and show their work on a recording template. If they are successful, the answer to that problem card will lead them to another problem card. Some cards contain two variables. Students must rely on their knowledge of alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, corresponding angles, consecutive interior angles, vertical angles, and linear pairs in order to answer the problems. This is much more exciting than a traditional worksheet, because this activity gets kids out of their seats and provides built-in checks for understanding along the way.
