This packet contains two activities and a practice worksheet that guide students' thinking and helps them to make observations and generalizations about parallel and perpendicular lines. Through these student-centered activities, students are able to make meaning on their own, without direct instruction from the teacher. Answer keys included.
The first activity is an investigation about the slopes and y-intercepts of parallel lines.
The second activity is an investigation about the product of the slopes of perpendicular lines.
These activities assume that students already know how to graph lines and find the slope of a line, either from the graph or the equation.
