This Common Core aligned package includes 36 parent functions to help students understand and make connections between reflections over the x and y-axes, domains, ranges, and limits. This activity is great for students to work collaboratively and share and discuss the connections in math with one another. A great review for students before beginning calculus.
Students will be given a graph of a parent function and must fill in the function, its domain and range, and its limit to negative infinity, 0, and positive infinity. Some of these parent functions will be reflections over the x-axis or the y-axis and will help students see the relationship between the reflections and the domains and ranges. These activities will allow students to gain a better understand of x-intercepts, y-intercepts, domain, range, asymptotes, increasing and decreasing intervals, max and mins, symmetry, vertical and horizontal reflections, and the limits of functions to negative and positive infinity. This package covers the following parent functions.
Absolute Value Functions
Square Root Functions
Cube Root Functions
Trigonometric Functions (Sin/Cos/Tan/Cot)
Greatest Integer Function
