This handbook is designed to help parents assist their children with learning to read. It contains a parent letter asking for adult support at home with reading. It lists the Common Core expectations in a way that parents can more easily understand. There is a separate page listing the alphabet letters, a key word for pronunciation, and the possible spellings of the sound. Then there are charts of the C-V-C words for all five short vowel sounds and an additional chart of slightly harder blends. It concludes with a list of the basic Dolch words for the parents to cut out and use with their child. It would be great to give to parents at Back-to-School-Night or with a homework packet later in the year.
