This packet includes a separate Common Core aligned Parent Handout for each of the following Guided Reading Levels: F, G, H, I and J.
These handouts give parents tips and ideas for helping their child with reading, discussing and writing about books. Ideas and activities are also useful in Guided Reading groups and Literacy Centers.
Includes ideas for:
Helping kids use reading strategies
Going on a "Long Vowel Scavenger Hunt"
Working with compound words
Helping kids become familiar with more complex text layouts
Working with sight words/ contractions
Breaking words into syllables
Asking and answering text-based questions
Initiating rich discussions about books
Using closed captioning to help kids develop reading skills
I send one of these handouts home each time a child transitions to a new Guided Reading level. I find that this helps parents support their child's learning at home. This is evident in children's reading!
I hope you find these useful! Thanks, Anne
P.S. - These handouts are currently available for Guided Reading Levels A through L . Bundles such as this offer handouts as a discount - and they are also listed individually for each Guided Reading Level.
