I know that I have had parents begging to come into my classroom and either they would be too distracting for what we were doing or they were just too over barring of parents. Lets admit, we have all had this happen more than one time. I came up with this binder for parents to be independent when they volunteer. I place these papers in a binder and set it out in the hallway for parents, which is their station when they come to volunteer. This binder is a great resource so that you can still teach and not have to explain everything to your volunteer. Their are game for sight words, math, and reading with detailed instructions for the volunteer. Also, I put simple instructions on simple tasks like cutting, stapling, and grading.
