We all know how important it is to keep accurate records of everything we do in our classrooms, from lesson plans to current grades in our grade books. Recording parent contact is just as important. Obviously, it is good to have a paper trail of contact in order to provide proof that everything that can be done to help a particular student was in fact attempted. Keeping an electronic copy that of that contact record can easily be filled in with detailed information about the contact will help cover yourself in such an instance.
