This handout provides students with a visual of how to pull information from the note card and source card to create the parenthetical citation. Furthermore, it also demonstrates the use of parenthetic citations IN a paragraph as well a solid transition sentence at the beginning of the paragraph.
In addition to the visual, this handout asks students to create parenthetical citations for their rough drafts. You may, however, ask students to write the parenthetical citations ahead of time on the back of their note cards for the "practice" portion instead.
While the humor of the handout first engages students, the visual and practice forces them to expand their note card and source card knowledge.
**This handout really helped my students who struggled with parenthetical citations finally grasp how to make them. **
