Recent political events in the United States have put more attention than ever on the landmark Paris Agreement, in which almost every nation in the world came together and committed to a joint international effort to combat climate change. Because of the importance of this agreement, and to help students and others better understand the agreement and its provisions, this PDF download of the complete text of the Paris Agreement is being provided free of charge to all users.
This is the complete, final English text of the Paris Agreement. (The United Nations made some editorial revisions to earlier versions of the agreement; these revisions are included in this version.) The handout is designed with classroom needs in mind. The text is set in easy-to-read, 11-point type. Lines of text are numbered for easy reference in classroom discussion. A lined section on the right side of the page provides space for the reader to take notes. (These lines use the same spacing as college-ruled notepaper.) An introduction (the same as the first paragraph above) provides brief context and background to the reader. The handout is optimized for black-and-white printing and to save printer/photocopier ink/toner to reduce your printing costs.
