Tired of the paper clogging your desk? Want a better way to grade participation in your class?
This tried and true rubric for participation and homework organization system keeps track of "effort grades" with boxes for homework assignments and a criteria for earning participation grades.
Copy the homework and participation chart in color and hole punch it for all students. (Don't forget to make an extra copy to hang on your board!) When you assign homework, the students write the assignment on their homework sheet. The next day, you check their homework and stamp the sheet for credit.
Every 5 assignments, collect, and give a participation grade. The rubric reflects best practices for participation in the world language classroom, including engagement and effort to speak the target language.
It's simple and fair…and it works. I've used it in 6th grade through AP!
