Nicely supports the MS-PS1-4 standard "Develop a model that predicts and describes changes in particle motion, temperature, and state of a pure substance when thermal energy is added or removed". In Part One, students are challenged to imagine they are a particle in different given situations. They are asked how their thermal energy, their kinetic energy, and state of matter would be affected by each scenario given. They are then required to draw a diagram of what is happening to the particles in each scenario. In Part Two, students are challenged to develop the script for a skit about particle motion, including specific instructions and requirements.
