Product Description
This resource explores the connection between addition and subtraction with a variety of activities and worksheets. It is suitable for Year 2 and Year 3 students and connects to ACMNA029 and ACMNA054. Note: This has been set up to suit the Australian Curriculum but links to the Common Core Standards 2.NBT.A.1 and 2.NBT.B.5

Students learn that both addition and subtraction contain a “whole” and “two parts”. If the two parts are known, then addition can be used to find the missing whole. If the whole and one part is known, then subtraction can be used to find the missing part.

Students learn to partition two-digit number into tens and ones (units) and use this to create related addition and subtraction sentences

Students learn to partition numbers into hundreds, tens and units and then use this knowledge to work out maths problems that involve large numbers by splitting them into smaller units so they’re easier to work with.
