A great way to incorporate the common core learning standards for literacy into my general music and choral music classes!
Go to your school library and check out all of the books related to music. Put about five music books in a 2 gallon zip lock bag so they can be quickly distributed to the kids.
In each bag include this half sheet form for the students to fill out while reading their book. Finally, the students interview their neighbor about their book to complete the last part of the form.
This has been a quick and effective way to incorporate more reading and writing into the music curriculum!
