I really love interactive classrooms. I created this resource based on my experience incorporating paired reading as a part of my literacy block last year. If you are looking for a way to boost authentic discussions, reflections and debates with your kiddies, this is a great tool to have.
Inside in this resource are:
1. 3 double sided bookmarks with comprehension questions on one side and group discussion question on the reverse side.
2. 20 discussion prompt cards for group work.
3. Partner feedback forms
4. Student Reflection Sheets
I use this resource during my literacy block. Students are in their reading groups and choose books based upon their interest for their group. During the first couple of weeks of school, we spend a lot of time going over the expectations for this activity (i.e. rules/behavior, choosing good fit books, how to check for understanding, providing positive feedback, asking questions and completing reflection sheets).
My students have individual literacy folders that they keep with them to track their progress and store their work during centers. Inside their folders are these bookmarks, reflection sheets, feedback forms and other tools they will need. In a bin are the laminated discussion cards on a ring, dictionaries, thesauruses, colored pencils, writing paper and #2 pencils.
