Partner worksheets are a great way to review concepts and encourage independent thought. When my students are paired together, I require that they consult their partner before asking me for help. I use these sheets both for practice and to teach students how to check another’s work.
Students work in pairs (or 1-2 groups of three) to solve each set of problems. When worked correctly, both problems give the same answer, though not always in the same units. If both students arrive at the same answer, they can be pretty sure that they’re correct. Otherwise, they know that one or both of them made an error. In this way, they can assess their own work without constantly asking “Is this right?”
This partner worksheet is based on common formulas: area and perimeter of a rectangle and triangle, distance, simple interest, and temperature conversion.
