I had low-performing seniors in high school who could not identify the parts of speech. Because I had to review this with them, you can benefit in using an assignment that is usable from elementary school through high school.
Students are interested in the subject matter, and the lists provided allow students to find just the right word for different points of view. It's basically one object described four different ways. Younger kids will learn new words, while older kids will get (let's hope) a review.
An image search is used to reinforce the learning. An optional writing portion can be used as is or simplified for younger students.
This assignment works best in Google Docs and can be assessed without printing any pages, but you can adapt it to the learning environment. It can also be turned into a collaborative assignment without much alteration.
