I have created two videos that are each approximately 11 minutes long (part one covers nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs and part two covers prepositions, conjunctions: coordinating and subordinating, and interjections). They give an overview of the eight parts of speech with lots of specific examples and practice sentences. To watch an excerpt from one of the parts of speech videos, click here.
The download also includes:
Student notes to fill in while watching video
Parts of speech quiz for each video with answer key
Parts of speech worksheet focusing on adjectives and adverbs
Parts of speech test with answer key
I use videos for my flipped classroom. Students view a video lecture and fill in their notes for homework. With the passive learning out of the way, students come to class ready to actively engage with and apply the concepts. This also gives us more class time to work collaboratively with one another. Videos are also great for tutorials or remedial work. Need to be out for the day? Leave a video lesson for your substitute.
