This kit includes teacher guides and student materials for short lessons on nouns, adjectives, and noun phrases. All lessons are designed to follow the same pattern of instruction: a word sort, a short review and defining the new part of speech, a whole group activity, and individual practice. The final lesson in the kit is one on creating and diagramming noun phrases.
The teacher guides include a basic lesson outline with a summary of activities, procedures, answer key, helpful notes as well as variations that provide opportunities for differentiated instruction, increased student-to-student interaction, and kinesthetic learning.
The kit was designed to be a starting point for quickly covering or reviewing these grammar concepts. It is very flexible and requires your own expertise and teaching flair.
Please let me know what you think of the kit. I plan on creating more to cover all parts of speech and would like to know how I can better improve the materials.
NOTE: I originally planned to include a lists of words to use for the word sorts and other activities; however, I found it near impossible to include a list that would be suitable for all grade/achievement levels and meaningful to all students. I suggest the teacher using this kit chooses words that would be appropriate and meaningful to his/her student.
