Great Game to practice the parts of speech: nouns, adjectives, verbs, and adverbs. Fun card game for students to play for a center or for extra practice.
Game Play: Ideal for 2-4 players
Deal each player 5 cards. Put the remaining cards in a pile called the draw pile.
How to Play:
First player puts down a face card (one labeled noun, verb, adjective, or adverb).
For example, if the first player put down a noun face card, the next player puts down a word card with a noun on it (ex: car, computer, U.S.A., etc.). When it was their turn, each player would continue to put down a word card with a noun on it. If a player did not have an word card with a noun on it or a face card to play, then the player draws a card from the draw pile.
Players would continue playing noun word cards until a player put down a different face card (adverb, verb, or adjective) to change word types. Then the players would put down word cards with that word type (either adjective, verb, or adverb) until another face card is played.
The game continues until a player has played all his cards, at which point he wins!
