**Great for interactive Notebooks!!***
To understand more complex sentences and sentence structure in my classroom I found that we had to back up to parts of speech and how they fit into a sentence. After each mini-lesson in which I introduced each part of speech, the students completed one sort or activity. Then the next day we learned a new part of speech.
When it came time to introduce sentences we built on our knowledge of nouns and verbs to identify the 2 parts of a sentence and then to identify simple sentences. There is a SMART board sort included that allows you to sort sentences and fragments as a class. The sort activity allows students to continue to identify the subject and action in sentences to determine if a sentence is complete or not.
I included some picture support (Microsoft clipart) on the nouns sort to help English Language Learners.
