About this resource:
This project has students make a circular cake and illustrate 10 parts of a circle using different candies/sweets.
The document contains complete directions, a space for a cake illustration as shown in the photo (students must illustrate their actual cake, showing the candies/sweets they used), and a concept chart (students use complete sentences to define all of their parts of the circle and identify the candy used for each).
The students love this activity and I do too. Anything involving food is always a winner! I have used this as a end of chapter project and I have used it as an extra credit activity. Either way, I have students present their project to the class. After projects are presented, everyone digs in!
I am always amazed by the creativity of the students. In the past, I have seen students use Twizzlers as their tangent and Extra Long Twizzlers for their secant. Most all students use their frosting as area. It is pretty incredible what they come up with!!
